Cleansing for Depression

“SNAP OUT OF IT” AND “PULL YOUR SOCKS UP”

If you have ever had the misfortune of experiencing mood disorders, anxiety and depression, you probably have heard these words often. And you have heard all the others too: “Don’t worry, things will improve” and ‘It’s not as bad as you think.”

Unless you have actually experienced depression, you cannot understand what it feels like.

“AH, WHAT’S THE POINT?”

Searching on the Internet under Symptoms of Depression, you will find descriptions that will probably fit your situation: Lack of Energy, Feelings of Despair, Sleep Disruption, Eating too much, Eating Too little, Guilty Feelings, Irritability, Difficulty Concentrating and Apathy.

And the list goes on.

But, basically, to sum it up, the expression “Ah, what’s the point” probably is the best way to describe how people feel when depressed. They say and think “what’s the point” for this is how they really feel.

And they have a point. What’s the point of doing anything if you are going to feel the same afterwards? You truly believe there is no relief and no depression help.

Depressing, isn’t it?

My name is Richard Barrett. I’m a sixty-three year old living in Toronto, Canada. As an individual who has experienced bouts of depression throughout my life, I, like millions of other people, searched the Internet looking for depression help.

I found a bewildering supply of data on this subject.

The nature of depression is very complex. Our understanding of how our brains work is light years behind our understanding of how the body works.

There are many ways to help you cope with and manage depression. However, as a person who is very active athletically, I really didn’t want to take prescription drugs with all their side-effects (although taking these can be justified, depending on one’s circumstances).

I am happy to report that I have had good results in finding depression help. I now fight depression naturally. I can balance my moods by combining gentle nutritional cleansing with a greater attention to healthy daily activities.

As this natural approach – targeting the body first by giving it a boost to create more energy - appears to be greatly undervalued, I designed this website hoping that the information supplied will be helpful to others who are fighting depression.

SO WHY DO WE GET DEPRESSED ANYWAY?

If you read through the literature looking for information on depression help, you will find reports on:

• Neurotransmitters in your brain malfunctioning during episodes of depression.

• Chemical dysfunction, serotonin deficiencies and the anti-depressants used to alter this effect

• The implication of depression as both a cause and result of stroke and heart disease.

• How stress can trigger depression and depression can trigger stress.

• How depression can be the result of being diagnosed with a catastrophic illness such as cancer and other diseases.

• How victims of child abuse or chemical dependents are highly vulnerable to depression

• Likewise, those in high-risk situations such as imprisonment, bankruptcy, unemployment, bereavement, loneliness and a broken heart.

The list seems to be endless. And there is nothing new here except that it is all very complicated and, in a sense, unanswerable.

But those who are looking for depression help should not despair.

“THAT’S VERY INTERESTING, BUT I JUST WANT TO FEEL BETTER”

This is my reaction when I read information on depression: “Now that’s very interesting, but how is it going to help me to feel better?”

There are many treatments available and they all have their place depending on one’s situation.

• Psychotherapy
• Meditation
• Relaxation Techniques
• Anti-depressants
• Electroconvulsive therapy

And then there is the darker side: Activities that temporarily punch the pain back into the shadows of the mind:

• Alcohol abuse
• Illicit drugs
• Work addiction
• Obsessive-compulsive behaviour

Again, you might say: that’s interesting, but I'm looking for depression help through natural approaches.

“SO WHY DON’T YOU JUST GET ACTIVE AND THE FEELING WILL GO AWAY?”

Here’s the point: When someone asks you to get moving, to “pull your socks up,” you probably just physically don’t feel like it as everything seems to take so much effort.

It’s easier said than done.

It is true, though, that activity – social, physical, intellectual – can pull you out of yourself, so to speak, and can give a positive message subconsciously to the brain. It’s as if the mind were saying: “Hey, Buddy, you see, things don’t look too bad after all.”

BUT YOU REALLY HAVE TO FEEL LIKE BEING ACTIVE FIRST

...AND THERE’S THE PROBLEM

Regardless of whether you are depressed or not, you have to eat and drink anyway.

And this is where the use of NUTRITIONAL CLEANSING, as part of your eating and drinking, can be effective in helping you feel like taking those steps towards being active.

For, being depressed, you may not feel like going to the gym, visiting friends, going for a walk, going on vacation, leaving the house or even going to work – I’ve been there – but you do have to eat and drink.

And by using NUTRITIONAL CLEANSING you will be helping your mind to ease the depression by first influencing the body - depression help in a natural way.

There is no doubt that the state of the mind influences the body. During stressful situations your blood pressure can soar and your heart can beat as if it were going to jump out of your chest. But it works the other way around too.

Think of how you felt mentally when you had that bad cold recently. Or think of how that back pain you had last month influenced your mood and how you looked at the world then. Some people who experience chronic back-ache are especially vulnerable to depression as they may start to believe that normal living is over and that they will be suffering until the end of life.

And then there is the so-called “placebo effect.”

This usually involves two groups of people in a scientific study: One group takes the medication being tested and the other group takes an inactive substance, with each group believing they are taking the real thing.

Frequently, both groups will report that they are experiencing the same results.

This, we know, is due to the mind-body connection.

And when used properly, I have found it to be a powerful way to relieve the symptoms of depression.

PEOPLE WHO CLEANSE REGULARLY REPORT THAT THEY EXPERIENCE GREATER MENTAL CLARITY AND BALANCED MOODS

There is a reason why this occurs: it supports the entire body's natural cleansing functions by providing optimal nutrition.

WHY IS THE ELIMINATION OF TOXINS SO IMPORTANT IN DEPRESSION HELP?

It’s simple. We live in a chemical environment.

Worse, we store these chemicals in parts of our bodies such as the liver. The liver is sometimes called the body’s waste-management plant. It gets clogged up just like the water-filtration cartridge in your kitchen restricting its ability to filter properly.

It’s an old story really.

Through our consumption of food, water and air, we are daily bombarded with many thousands of chemicals that find their way into our bodies. Carpet, shampoo, lotions, house cleaners, food additives – everything is suspect.

Considering all of this, isn’t it ironic how we shower and scrub and deodorize ourselves on the outside? We clean and floss our teeth, we clean and replace the filters in our air-conditioners, cars, water dispensers and swimming pools regularly.

However, we give no thought to doing an internal cleansing on our most priceless asset: our bodies.

As the world turns, we ingest pesticides, herbicides and food additives to such a degree that it is truly amazing how we have survived as a species thus far. Our animal friends haven’t done so well.

Toxic overload can result in deterioration of the liver.

When this happens mental stress is increased as, at a physical level, this organ is now struggling to do its job of filtering, producing bile, proteins, hormones, balancing the endocrine system and many more tasks.

This is important for most people, but even more important for those who are trying to cope and in need of depression help.

NUTRITIONAL CLEANSING on a regular basis will help to strengthen the immune system and give your body a boost by flushing the harmful chemicals out.

BETTER LIFESTYLE CHOICES ARE MADE WHEN BRAIN CHEMISTRY IS IN BALANCE

A cleaner liver helps the body to more efficiently create healthy brain chemicals. Powerful nutritional replenishment supports this process. The result, I have found, is high-quality depression help.

“SO, WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE HERE?”

The bottom line is:

The more I incrementally build health benefits naturally, in as many ways as possible, the greater my chances are of coping. It also increases the intensity with which I look for other natural depression help.

A healthy body pursues, and even craves, healthy things, and an unhealthy body pursues, and even craves, unhealthy things.

If you are nursing, pregnant, diabetic, on medication or have a medical condition, consult your physician before starting any cleansing or depression help program.
