Retirement ideas...to keep depression away

There is no shortage of retirement ideas and no shortage of people giving you advice either. I found this out as soon as I retired, which was just recently.

Retirement is one of the major transitional periods in life. After talking with retired people, I have acquired the opinion that one-third like it, one-third tolerates it and one-third has great difficulty in adjusting.

The last group is more inclined to be depressed and bored. We all know people who have experienced this after retirement. If you have merged your identity with your job all your life, it is only natural to feel this way, at least for the immediate period after you stop working.

Many, after taking up hobbies for the first time, complain that they are still bored. Hobbies and true interests take a long time to develop. It is hard to start a new one.

People in the group who have difficulty adjusting will continuously seek out other retirement ideas to fill their time meaningfully. They don’t know what to do when bored. Replacing a job that provided them with intellectual stimulation can be difficult.

Some may sink into feelings of depression and anxiety.

Four retirement ideas:

1. Make your health your hobby

If I don’t feel well physically, I don’t feel well mentally - the theme of this website. I try to build up my health incrementally in as many ways as possible. By making your health your hobby you will always be seeking ways to improve your general well-being.

2. Consider Nutritional Cleansing

It is a fact that our bodies are detoxifying continuously through the liver, colon, lymphatic system, kidney and skin.

However, some of us are overloaded with the toxins that surround us. Through regular cleansing we can help these natural systems to detoxify more efficiently.

People who cleanse regularly report that they are able to lose excessive fat as a result of removing the toxins that are lodged in this unwanted fat.

Greater mental clarity is also experienced, a fact that should help those who are prone towards being depressed. In general, cleansing can lead to improved health.

Life isn't much fun without feeling energetic. Cleansing creates this energy by revitalizing the metabolism.

3. Find a portable small business with an intellectual challenge

Maybe you have left an intellectually challenging job recently. After the initial euphoria of not having to attend endless meetings, dealing with difficult workers and the exhausting travel, you are struggling to cope with your new normal.

You are beginning to realize that travel, hobbies and endless golf does not satisfy this intellectual hunger. You may be looking for some new ideas which will provide you with the stimulation you need.

The Internet

This is where the Internet comes in. The Internet can be an effective tool for achieving personal and financial independence. It can also be one of the greatest retirement ideas you will ever find. Your market is the world.

Intellectual stimulation is guaranteed, particularly if you set up a site based on a subject that you are passionate and knowledgeable about.

However, when it comes to the Internet, you have to be careful. It is possible to get a website up in a few hours. Unfortunately, as a replicated site, it will probably be ignored as if it were a fancy sign stuck in the middle of the Sahara desert.

The company I chose for this website, Site Build It!, has step-by-step instructions from beginning to end (they also offer coaching). It is particularly suitable for individuals who are motivated and who enjoy a challenge. I would never tell you that it is an easy thing to do as it does take dedication and quite a bit of time.

However, I’m glad I did it as it’s a great retirement idea.

Portability is important too. You don't want to be tied to an office every day. With an Internet business you should be able to travel anywhere in the world.

4. Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)

Some people might be considering Multi-Level Marketing (MLM). MLM is a very old concept that has frustrated a lot of people over the years. Who wants to risk alienating family, friends and the neighbours to sell a product?

The good news is that the Internet has turned the MLM business approach upside down. If done correctly, you can place worthwhile and neutral information on your site in such a way that potential customers will contact you and not the other way round.

This new approach to Internet marketing is nicely explained in The Renegade Marketer (click below).

It is important to understand that building a business online is different from the offline world. This applies to any Internet business.

Depending on your interests, Site Build It! and The Renegade Marketer can be a perfect match for promoting Internet business.
